As a corporate member of Ecotourism Kenya, we are committed to upholding the global responsibilities of Ecotourism, which are dedicated towards ensuring responsible travel, the conservation of areas of outstanding natural beauty, and the preservation of the cultural heritage and quality of life of the local community. We are also proud to play our part in ensuring that the new priorities of the global tourist are met, by ensuring that we
As part of this commitment, we believe in the use of eco-friendly architecture, building and design; the use of local materials, skills and labour wherever possible, and the promotion of traditional arts and crafts.
Some of the ways in which these principles have been translated into our CSR policy are as follows:
Mama Kioko
The distinctive traditional figures, which guard the route to the most famous African Restaurant, Nyama Choma Ranch, where the sleekly sensuous Safari Cats offer their famous display of traditional cultural dance and costume nightly, are made entirely from re-cycled metal.
Enshrining Kenyan Heritage and Tradition
Kenyan costume, displayed to perfection
The preservation and promotion of Kenya’s precious heritage means a lot to us – we feel it’s a major part of the eco-tourism profile of today. We’re very proud, therefore, to launch our new Maasai-inspired hostess uniforms, which have been designed to make our ‘meet and greet’ staff look every inch the Kenyan queen. Designed by a team of local artists, the costumes showcase the very best of Kenyan beading and embroidery, use pure Kenyan cotton, and feature beadwork by some of Kenya’s women’s community groups. The end result is the very essence of Maasai style.
Food and Beverage
Our menus feature locally grown produce and showcase Kenyan specialities.
